Industrial energy projects often produce an attractive percentage before anyone asks what was measured. Efena’s validation approach is designed to separate normal operating variation from a credible site result.
1. Screen the Application
Efena reviews equipment type, rating, fuel, burner, controls, duty cycle, production demand, utilities, installation environment, maintenance condition, and available data. Not every facility or operating profile is a suitable candidate.
2. Define the Baseline
The measurement plan identifies fuel consumption, operating hours, boiler or furnace load, thermal output or production, relevant emissions data, and external conditions. Instruments, data sources, time periods, and calculation boundaries are recorded.
3. Document the Installation
System configuration, control settings, electrical use, water use, safety interfaces, operating procedures, and any changes to the host equipment are documented so the test can be understood and repeated.
4. Compare Equivalent Conditions
Before-and-after periods should represent similar loads and production requirements. Results may need to be adjusted for operating hours, output, weather, product mix, or other variables. Interruptions and exceptions should be disclosed.
5. Report Results and Limitations
A credible report explains the method, data, assumptions, uncertainty, and conditions under which the result occurred. Site findings should not be presented as a guarantee for unrelated equipment.
