Boilers

Industrial boiler applications

Evaluate the boiler you already operate.

Efena assesses qualified steam, hot-water, and process-heating boilers for an engineered oxyhydrogen-assisted combustion retrofit. The work begins with operating data, the burner and controls—not a universal equipment package.

Potential applications

Boiler systems considered for technical review

Suitability depends on the complete installation and operating conditions.

Steam systems

Process and production steam

Evaluation can include steam demand, pressure, feedwater conditions, firing profile, condensate return, and representative fuel use.

Hot-water systems

Hydronic and process heating

Review considers water temperatures, circulation, load variation, burner cycling, control strategy, and thermal demand.

Industrial duty

Continuous and batch operation

Food production, cleaning, drying, institutional, and other thermal operations may be considered when site conditions support integration.

Field installation

See the system operating at Arepas El Carriel

This field video shows Efena equipment in operation at the El Carriel facility. Each installation is engineered around the host boiler, burner, controls, operating profile, and site conditions.

Functional equipment at Arepas El Carriel. Field performance is application-specific and should be evaluated under defined, comparable operating conditions.

Screening data

What Efena needs to begin

Representative data helps distinguish a technically credible project from a generic equipment inquiry.

01Manufacturer, model, and rated capacity
02Steam pressure or water temperatures
03Fuel and burner information
04Operating schedule and typical load
05Recent fuel-consumption records
06Controls, stack data, and available drawings
Project pathway

From screening to measured evaluation

Each phase should define the assumptions, responsibilities, and decision criteria for the next step.

01 — Assess

Confirm technical fit

Review the boiler, burner, fuel, load, controls, installation environment, and available data.

02 — Baseline

Define the starting point

Select representative operating periods, measurement boundaries, and required instrumentation.

03 — Integrate

Configure the retrofit

Plan generation capacity, controls, interfaces, safeguards, installation, and commissioning.

04 — Validate

Compare documented results

Evaluate baseline and post-installation operation under defined and comparable conditions.

Performance discipline

Results are boiler- and site-specific.

Efena does not apply a single laboratory value or field result to every boiler. Fuel use and emissions can be influenced by the burner, excess air, firing rate, load stability, maintenance, water conditions, ambient conditions, control strategy, and measurement method.

01Representative baseline
02Comparable operating load
03Defined measurement boundary
04Documented limitations
Common questions

Before requesting an assessment

Does the boiler need to be replaced?

The retrofit-first objective is to retain suitable existing equipment. Condition, controls, safety, and technical compatibility must still be reviewed.

Can a high-efficiency boiler be evaluated?

Yes. A high rating does not describe every site condition, but no additional savings should be assumed without representative data and a defined test method.

Which fuels can be considered?

Fuel compatibility is application-specific. Provide the current fuel, burner information, combustion settings, and applicable site requirements.

How is system size selected?

Configuration is based on the host boiler, firing range, operating profile, controls, installation conditions, and the project’s validated design basis.
